RICHARDSON, TX (03.01.11) - The UT Dallas men's and women's tennis teams entertained NCAA Division II opponent Dallas Baptist Tuesday with the Comet men leaving the court with a 6-3 victory. The UTD women dropped their match, 9-0.
MEN - UTD 6, Dallas Baptist 3 (BOX SCORE)
The Comets (now 3-1) won five of six singles matches and stole one double match en route to a 6-3 home win over Dallas Baptist.
Senior Sebastian Leitz handled DBU's Clint Bair, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 1 singles while sophomore Bryan Leib cruised to a 6-1, 6-2, win over Patriot No. 2 player Richard Abel. Senior Clint Laukhuf (No. 4) and freshmen Wayne Chang (No. 5) and Antonio Alda (No. 6) also picked up singles victories for the Comets. The tandem of Laukhuf/Chang secured an 8-0 win over DBU's Justin Hanna/Joe Yeado at No. 3 doubles.
WOMEN - Dallas Baptist 9, UTD 0 (BOX SCORE)
The UTD women did not pick up a single set in singles as the Comets were handed a 9-0 loss by NCAA D-II Dallas Baptist. The visiting Patriots also swept through the doubles play, taking 8-4 decision at all three flights.
UT Dallas returns to American Southwest Conference East Division play Thursday when the Comets host LeTourneau at 3 p.m. at the UTD Courts.
