RICHARDSON, TX (03.30.12) - The UT Dallas men's tennis team has now won eight straight matches after dropping its season opener as the Comets downed Ozarks, 8-1, Friday afternoon in American Southwest Conference East Division play.
The Comets (now 8-1, 2-1 ASC East) swept singles action after taking 2-of-3 doubles matches to pick up the home win.
The doubles team of
Matthew Davis and Guilherme Portela opened play with an 8-3 win over Ozarks' Tom Lowe/Bill Blake at No. 2 doubles before the Eagles evened the match with a win at No. 1 doubles. In that match, UO's Todd Turner/Bishop Bass bested Comets

David Yeh, 8-3.
Bryan Leib and
Sander Kaasjager responded for UTD, however, downing Scott Eibs/Michael Skimbo, 8-4, at No. 3 doubles.
At No. 6 singles,
Kirby Chenkin was the first Comets to register a singles win, downing Greg Knoggs, 6-3, 6-3. Foster then finished off Corey Dillard, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 3 singles and Davis iced the match with a 6-4, 6-3, win over Turner at No. 1 singles. Kaasjager, in his first action with the Comets this season, then downed Skimbo, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 4 singles, Leib edged Bass, 4-6, 6-2, 10-8, at No. 2 singles and Yeh held off Eibes, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 5 singles.
The Comets return to action Thursday for a non-conference match against Rhodes in Tyler before hosting Texas-Tyler Friday in ASC East play.
