SHERMAN, TX (02.14.14) - The No. 29-ranked UT Dallas men's tennis team opened the 2014 season Friday afternoon with a 9-0 sweep of regional rival Austin College.
The Comets (now 1-0) cruised through doubles play unscathed and only needed one third set in singles action to complete the sweep. UTD will begin its defense of its American Southwest Conference title next Friday at Howard Payne.

Hruday Ravula was the first Comet to dispatch his opponent, downing AC's Spencer Gander, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3 singles. Senior
Kirby Chenkin then secured the win for UTD, downing Jark Kunde, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 6 singles.

Henry Henk picked up a 6-4, 6-2, win at No. 4 singles as he downed AC's Jeff Kubena before sophomore
Wayne Chang gave the Comets a 7-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-0, win at No. 5 over David Smith. At No. 1 singles, senior
Casey Clark held of AC's Adam Dokos, 7-5, in the opening set before completing the win with a 6-0 win in the second set. Senior
Sander Kaasjager finished off the Roos at No. 2 singles, battling for a 6-3, 3-6, 10-3, win over Cedric Arabulo.
Clark and Kaasjager earned an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles over Dokos/Arabulo, Ravula and Henk teamed up for an 8-2 win at No.1 over Kunde/Smith and Chang and Chenkin claimed an 8-2 win at No. 3 over AC's Kubena/Nick Diaz.
