RICHARDSON, TX (09.30.14) - The UT Dallas volleyball team snapped a two-game losing streak Tuesday night as the Comets returned home for a 3-1 win over LeTourneau in American Southwest Conference play.
The Comets (now 11-4, 5-2 ASC) hit .254 as a team and jumped to a quick 2-0 lead, taking 25-15 and 25-9 wins, before dropping a close third set to LETU, 25-23. UTD rallied in the fourth set for a 25-13 win, hitting .379 in the final stanza to seal the victory.
Taylour Toso led the Comets with 13 kills while
Meredith Crawford added 11 kills for the only UTD players to reach double figures.
Holyn Handley added nine kills along with a team-high 18 digs as she led five Comets in double-digit digs.

TOSOCrawford was a big part of the Comets early success, collecting 10 kills through the first two sets while committing just one error in 16 swings. UTD dominated the opening set, hitting .297, while Crawford and Toso each had four kills. The Comets grabbed a 11-3 lead early in the set after consecutive kill by
Michelle Toro, Toso and Crawford and never looked back. Crawford then added six kills in the second set as UTD used a 9-0 run late in the set to quickly put away the YellowJackets. UTD hit .333 in the set, committing just three errors.
The third set was a different story for UTD as the Comets hit just .091, collected just 10 kills with six errors in the two-point loss. No Comet had more than two kills in the set as LETU closed out the set on a 7-2 run after UTD snagged a late 21-18 advantage. However, the Comets settled down and regained composure in the fourth set as Toso took control with six kills and four blocks to ice the victory.
The Comets take a short break from ASC play Friday with a pair of non-conference matches in Georgetown. UTD will face Elmhurst at 10 a.m. and Texas Lutheran at 2 p.m. The Comets will then travel to Texas-Tyler for an ASC match at 2 p.m. Saturday.
