RICHARDSON, TX (10.12.18) - The UT Dallas volleyball clinched at least a share of its fourth straight American Southwest Conference East Division title Friday afternoon after a 3-0 home win over McMurry in the ASC crossover tournament.
The Comets improved to 14-7 overall and 9-1 in ASC play after Friday's second win and will serve as the No. 1 seed from the East Division in next month's ASC Tournament. UTD will wrap up the ASC crossover event Saturday with a 2 p.m. match with Sul Ross State.
UTD had another strong offensive performance as the Comets hit .256 as a team in the quick win over the War Hawks.
Dylan Brinkman led UTD with 11 kills and 12 digs while adding three blocks and an ace.
Alex Nolan added 10 kills and 11 digs, contributing two aces of her own.
The Comets have now won 11 ASC division titles in the program's 15-year history. UTD has officially claimed the last 11 divisional crowns as the ASC used a single-division format in 2013 and 2014. The Comets won the ASC East from 2006-12 and now from 2015-18.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets got six kills from Brinkman and four more from Nolan as they earned a 25-18 win in the opening set. UTD hit .239 as a team and had 23 digs and three blocks to set the tone for the match.
- Nolan had five kills and Sydney Riordan added four kills in the Comets' 25-14 win over McMurry in the second set. UTD hit .368 as a team, committing just three errors in the set.
- The Comets hit just .178 in the third set, getting several players involved in the match. Via and Alyssa Porter each had a team-best three kills in the set.
