Comets Close Regular Season With Split at Baden Invite

ST. LOUIS, MO (10.27.18) - The UT Dallas volleyball team put a bow on the 2018 regular season Saturday afternoon with two final matches at the Baden Invitational, hosted by Washington-St. Louis.

The Comets will enter next week's American Southwest Conference Tournament with a 21-8 overall record after Saturday's split. UTD opened the final day of the regular season with a quick 3-0 win over DePauw before falling in three sets to event host and No. 12-ranked Washington-St. Louis.

After solid all-around weekend, UTD junior middle blocker Alyssa Porter was named to the event's All-Tournament Team.

After receiving a first-round in the ASC Tournament by winning the league's East Division, the Comets will open the postseason Friday at 11 a.m. against the winner of Thursday's night's match between Concordia Texas (West #2) and LeTourneau (East #3).

UTD 3, DePauw 0
Porter and Sydney Riordan each finished with 10 kills as the Comets dispatched DePauw, 25-20, 2-22, 25-15, to open Saturday's competition.

The Comets hit .297 as a team, averaging nearly 15 kills per set as they extended their winning streak to nine straight matches. Dylan Brinkman added eight kills and 14 digs while Caroline Shecterle added 16 assists in the Comets' 6-2 offense.

#12 Washington-St. Louis 3, UTD 0
Porter again led the Comets offensively as she finished with a match-high 14 kills in the three-set loss to the No. 12-ranked Bears.

UTD hit just .148 as a team as the Comets fell to Wash.U., 25-17, 25-21, 25-19. Brinkman added eight kills while Riordan had seven kills. Riordan led the Comes with 15 digs.
