RICHARDSON, TX (05.06.19) - After picking up the program's second-ever conference title, the UT Dallas men's tennis team will officially open the 2019 NCAA Division III National Championship Saturday with a second-round match against No. 1-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday.
The Comets (16-1) are making their second trip to the national tournament and will participate in a four-team West Regional this weekend, hosted by top-ranked No. 1 C-M-S.Â
UTD will compete in one of two four-team regionals in the 43-team national field. The eight regional championship wil advance to the team championship finals, held on May 20-22 at Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Mich.
The Comets earned the right to travel to California after grabbing the squad's first American Southwest Conference championship since 2013. That season, the Comets also headed to Claremont, Calif, for the opening weekend and dropped a 5-0 decision to Redlands in the squad's only NCAA Tournament match.
