BIRMINGHAM, ALÂ (12.10.20) - The UT Dallas women's basketball team improved to 3-0 on the young season Thursday night after more than doubling up Belhaven, 83-41, in the Comets' second of three games at the Dardenne Memorial Classic, hosted by Birmingham-Southern.
Four Comets topped double digits with a total of 14 players scoring at least a point in the lop-sided "non-conference" victory over the American Southwest Conference East Division Blazers.
Kelley Skinner led all scorers with 13 points while
Paris Brinkley came off the bench for 12 points.
Kaitlyn Judge added 11 points and
Kaylee Boykin scored 10.
Raenett Hughes, the Comets' leading scorer in their first two contests, led UTD with eight rebounds.
The Comets shut down Belhaven (0-2) in the opening period, snagging a 12-2 after the first 10 minutes of play. UTD limited the Blazers to 1-for-18 from the field in the first quarter, setting the tone for the contest. The Comets extended their lead to 23 points at the half, leading, 35-12.
UTD struggled from the field, shooting just 37.7 percent as a team, but limited the Blazers to just 16-of-80 accuracy (20%) on the night while forcing 28 turnovers.
The Comets will close the classic with a 4 p.m. Friday game against Covenant College at the BIll Battle Coliseum.
