RICHARDSON, TX (01.15.22) - After more than two weeks off due to health and safety protocols, No. 24-ranked UT Dallas women's basketball team rolled to an 80-47 ASC home win over Ozarks Saturday afternoon.
The Comets improved to 7-3 overall after having their last four scheduled games canceled and now sit at 6-1 in ASC play. UTD will return to action Thursday, Jan. 20, with a 5 p.m. ASC road game at Sul Ross State to open a four-game road swing for the program.
Paris Kiser scored 13 of her game-high 21 points in the opening period as the Comets never trailed in the lop-sided victory. Kiser closed the afternoon 9-of-17 from the field, hitting three three-pointers, and added a team-high six rebounds as well as three assists for UTD.
Jordan Maxwell joined Kiser in double digits with 15 points, collected eight steals and six assists, both career highs. Maxwell's eight steals were just one shy of the Comets' single game record.
The Comets closed the contest shooting 40.8 percent from the field, hitting seven treys, and scored 36 points off of 33 Ozarks' turnovers.Â
Up 37-23 at the break, UTD doubled up the Eagles, 18-9, in the third to pushed its lead to more than 20 points. With most of the reserves in the contest in the final quarter, the Comets continued to extend the lead thanks to a 25-point period.
The Comets held Ozarks to just 34.9 percent accuracy from the field and out-rebounded the Eagles, 43-33, in the contest. UTD had 15 steals in the victory, topping double digits in the category for the third consecutive outing.
UTD sent 21 players to the court in the game with 12 Comets scoring in the contest.
Kaylee Boykin finished with eight points while
Isabel Carrillo had seven points and
Alex Bowman scored six points.
Jordan Rudd finished with five points and a game-high nine assists.
