ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The UT Dallas women's basketball team opened the 2022-23 season with a 68-44 loss at the University of Rochester in the Chuck Resler Tournament Friday night.
The host Yellow Jackets (1-0) built a 19-10 lead after the first quarter and 39-24 at the half. The Comets (0-1) outscored UR 14-12 in the final quarter.
For the game, UTD shot 21.4 percent from the field (15-of-70) and was 3-for-18 from three-point range and 11-of-16 at the free throw line. The Comets also recorded 43 rebounds, five assists, one block, 11 steals and 18 turnovers.
Rochester shot 36.4 overall (24-for-66), 6-for-27 outside and 14-of-21 at stripe to go with with 56 boards, 14 assists, 12 blocks, nine steals and 18 turnovers.

Joe Shotland at the helm of the Comets.

Cierra Trigg led UTD with a career-high 12 points and had three rebounds, a block and a steal.

McKenzie Howard netted seven points with three boards.
