Comets Pick Up Road Sweep over Cowgirls

ABILENE, Texas - The UT Dallas volleyball team earned an American Southwest Conference three-set win against Hardin-Simmons at the Mabee Complex Friday night.

The Comets (5-9, 4-2 ASC) swept the Cowgirls (8-9, 2-3 ASC) 28-26, 25-20, 26-24.

The first set saw 11 ties and four lead changes before UTD won the game on a block from Lauren Johnson and Erin Rogers. The Comets hit .326 with 18 kills in the second frame and outscored the Cowgirls 7-3 to go up 2-0. The deciding set saw UTD connect on 19 kills and escape with the 26-24 win.

UT Dallas Notes
- The Comets improve to 24-11 all-time against the Cowgirls.
- Freshman middle blocker Laura See hit .476 with 12 kills and a pair of blocks.
- Bailey Schievelbein recorded a double-double of 11 kills and 15 digs.
- Sophomore right side Gabi Engels hit .409 with 10 kills.
- Senior Erin Rogers added 10 kills and seven digs.
- Senior setter Emma Sevening tied her season-best with 27 assists and two aces.
- Izzy Sundquist posted 19 assists and two kills.
- Freshman libero Mari Hernandez came up with 25 digs.
- Lauren Johnson led UTD with four total blocks.
- Senior Rachel Baxter had 11 digs and moved into ninth place on the school career list with 1,144.

Hardin-Simmons Notes
- Gabby Jones led HSU with 10 kills and hit .364.
- Jadyn Hernandez posted nine kills and five blocks.
- Liz Underwood had eight kills and 14 digs.
- Keatyn Rodgers and Ali Meyer combined for 33 assists.
- Kat Martinez led the Cowgirls with 15 digs.

UTD will complete its ASC trip to Abilene with a noon match against McMurry Saturday.
