LONGVIEW, Texas - The UT Dallas volleyball team puled out a five-set 25-23, 21-25, 25-23, 24-26, 15-9 victory over LeTourneau at Solheim Arena Tuesday night.
With the victory, the Comets (10-12, 8-4 ASC) secure the third seed in next week's American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament in Belton, Texas.
Each of the first four sets were close battles, combining for 24 ties and 12 lead changes. Both teams' offenses played on a high level in the third set with both hitting .310 or better with 18 kills.
In the fifth set, the YellowJackets (11-13, 7-7 ASC) led 9-8 before UTD finished the match with seven consecutive points.
The Comets hit .149 for the match on 62 kills, 12 aces, 10 blocks and 109 digs. The YellowJackets hit .205 with 64 kills, six aces, 15 blocks and 102 digs.

- UTD improves to 44-0 all-time against LeTourneau.
- Freshman outside hitter
Bailey Schievelbein led the Comets with season-highs of 28 digs and seven aces, including four in the final stretch to end the match. Her seven aces is tied for second-most in program history.

Stella Ballew recorded a season-best 15 kills.
- Middle blocker
Laura See had 13 kills and a season-high seven blocks.

Rockie Collier recorded a season-high of 11 kills to go with three blocks.
- Senior outside
Erin Rogers had a double-double of 11 kills, 10 digs.

Sydney Sabin posted 29 assists and nine digs.

Emma Sevening also had a double-double with 22 assists and a season-high 17 digs.

Rachel Baxter came up with 20 digs.
LeTourneau Notes
- Libero Morgan Nix led all players with 41 digs, tied for the most in a five-set match against UTD all-time.
- Yari Ortiz led the YellowJackets with 19 kills.
- Faith Keating had 13 kills and 14 digs.
- Allison Smith hit .435 with 10 kills and seven blocks.
- Nora Lockhart recorded eight blocks.
- Reina Lawson had 34 assists and 16 digs.
