COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The UT Dallas women's basketball team opened the 2023-24 campaign with a 63-34 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan to open the CC Classic at Reid Arena Saturday.
After leading 14-13 after the first quarter, the Comets (1-0) pulled away with a 14-4 advantage in second, making the game 28-17 at halftime. UTD continued to dominate the Prairie Wolves (0-2) in the second half and would by as many as 30.
The Comets shot 36.5 (23-for-63) from the field, 7-of-29 from three-point range and 10-of-14 at the free throw line. They also recorded 44 rebounds, 13 assists, 11 turnovers, five blocks and 15 steals.
NWU was limited to 25 percent shooting (12-for-48), 3-of-17 from outside and 7-of-13 at the line. They posted 35 rebounds, eight assists, 21 turnovers, four blocks and three steals.
UT Dallas Notes
- Sophomore guard
Amanda Crowninshield paced the Comets with nine points and had a pair of steals.
- Sophomore forward
Addy Self scored eight points with four boards, two blocks and two steals in her Comet debut.

Talia Cloud added five points, six rebounds, two assists, a block and two steals.

Mia Rudin tied her career-high with six points and pulled down six rebounds.

Anna Yellen also had a career-best six rebounds.

Karrigan Parrott played their first game for UTD, bringing the program history to 209 student-athletes to play for the Comets.
- Saturday was the first-ever meeting between UTD and NWU.

- Nella Castaneda led the Prairie Wolves with 10 points off the bench.
- Ellie Bream grabbed seven rebounds.
- Rhett Partridge had a pair of blocks.
- Piper Graham dished out three assists.
- Brianna Denton added seven points.
