Comets Leave Colorado With Classic Split

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - After winning its season opener, the UT Dallas women's basketball wrapped up the CC Classic with a 69-58 loss to Colorado College at Reid Arena Sunday afternoon.

The Comets (1-1) jumped out to an 8-0 lead over the first 1:41 of the game and led 23-17 at the end of the opening quarter. The host Tigers (2-0), who received votes in the preseason D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, battled back to tie the game at 34-34 at the half.

UTD held its last lead at 38-37 two minutes into the third. CC ended the quarter on a 16-5 run, taking control of the contest. The Tigers held off the Comets in the final period to win by 11.

UTD shot 32.3 percent (20-for-62) from the floor, 7-for-22 from outside and 11-of-23 at the line. They also had 33 rebounds, 10 assists, 13 turnovers, four blocks and eight steals.

CC shot 46.8 percent (22-of-47) overall, 6-of-17 from three-point territory and 19-of-27 at the free throw line to go with 45 rebounds, 15 assists, 24 turnovers, three blocks and six steals.

UT Dallas Notes
- Senior forward Alex Bowman led the Comets with a career-high 14 points and grabbed five rebounds.
- Sophomore Amanda Crowninshiled recorded 11 points, drilling a trio of three-pointers, and dished out a pair of assists.
- Junior guard Cierra Trigg scored nine points.
- Senior center Mia Rudin was 4-for-4 shooting, netting a career-best eight points. She is now 7-for-8 from the field in two games.
- Addy Self and Trsytan Clark led UTD with seven rebounds each.
- Clark also had five steals, while Self blocked two shots.
- Talia Cloud and Molly Ly both recorded two assists.

Colorado College Notes
- Isa Nelson came off the bench to lead CC with 18 points and three steals. She also had five rebounds and three assists.
- Audrey Bayston had a double-double of 17 points and 10 boards while added three assists and blocked shot.
- Zoe Tomlinson recorded 12 points and 14 rebounds.
- Healy Bledsoe played all 40 minutes and had nine points, four rebounds, four assists, a block and two steals.

Up Next
The Comets will begin a three-game home stand with Austin on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
