IRVING, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball team went across the Metroplex to defeat Dallas 64-53 at the Maher Athletic Center Saturday evening.
The Comets (5-1) led 17-14 with 3:19 left in the first quarter, but the host Crusaders (4-3) ended the period on a 10-0 run to lead 24-17. UTD came up with a 10-0 run of its own in the second with UD leading 38-34 at the half.
The Comets signature defense made itself known in the third quarter, as they outscored the Crusaders 17-4 in the frame. Dallas went 0-for-13 from the field during the third. In the fourth, the Crusaders whittled down the lead to six points, but the Comets came up with the 11-point victory.
For the game, the UTD shot 40 percent (20-for-50) overall, 5-for-14 from outside and 19-of-25 from the line. They also had 39 rebounds, 10 assists, 17 turnovers, five blocks and 10 steals.
UD shot 27.8 percent (15-for-54) from the field, 7-of-18 from three-point range and 16-of-26 at the free throw line with 38 rebounds, seven assists, 18 turnovers, seven blocks and eight steals.
UT Dallas Notes
- The Comets recorded their best free throw percentage as well as most makes and attempts at the line on the season.
- Junior guard
Cierra Trigg led UTD with 17 points off the bench, going 3-for-4 from three-point range, and recorded a pair of steals.

Trystan Clark had 16 points with five boards, a blocked shot and two steals.
- Sophomore forward
Addy Self marched her season-bests with eight points and seven rebounds. She also dished out three assists.
- Senior
Blythe Williams recorded eight points, seven rebounds and two steals.

Amanda Crowninshield also scored eight points.

Talia Cloud blocked a season-best three shots.
- Senior
Alex Bowman had four points, six boards and three assists off the bench.
Dallas Notes
- Adryan Alvarez led the Crusaders with 16 points, four rebounds and two steals off the bench. She was 4-for-6 from outside.
- Taylor Rawls had 10 points, four assists, a blocked shot and two steals.
- Ashley Hall recorded 10 points with four rebounds, one block and a steal off the bench, going 7-for-8 at the line.
- Maria Dicenta added six points and four rebounds.
