Comets' Rally Held off by War Hawks

ABILENE, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball team lost 81-69 to McMurry in American Southwest Conference play at Kimbrell Arena Saturday afternoon.

The host War Hawks (8-2, 4-0 ASC) led the entire game and took a 36-27 lead into halftime. They extended the lead to 49-35 with 4:30 left in the third quarter before the Comets (7-2, 1-1 ASC) a 21-10 run over the next seven minutes to cut the deficit to 59-56 with 7:30 remaining in the game. McMurry ended the contest by outscoring UTD 22-13 for the 12-point victory.

The Comets shot 41.9 percent (27-for-65) from the field, 5-for-21 from three-point range and 10-for-15 at the free throw line. They also recorded 38 rebounds, 12 offensive, nine assists, 18 turnovers, two blocks and eight steals.

The War Hawks shot 42.6 percent (23-54) overall, 8-of-25 from outside and and 27-of-35 at the line with 31 rebounds, 18 assists, 15 turnovers and 11 steals.

UT Dallas Notes
- Sophomore forward Addy Self recorded her first double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. She was 11-for-17 shooting and blocked three shots.
- Senior guard Blythe Williams scored in double-digits for the sixth time in the last seven games, posting 10 points with six rebounds and three assists.
- Forward Talia Cloud hit a pair of three-pointers en route to 10 points. It was her second double-digit performance of the year.
- Junior Cierra Trigg added eight points and a steal off the bench.
- Alex Bowman recorded six points, six boards and three assists.
- Trystan Clark grabbed a season-high seven rebounds.

McMurry Notes
- Emily Holland, the ASC Offensive Player of the Year in women's soccer, led the War Hawks with 30 points and seven rebounds and dished out four assists.
- Kylie Flippin was 12-of-13 at the free throw line, scored 24 points and had six rebounds, two assists and three steals.
- Helena Chadwick scored 13 points with five boards and five assists.

UTD will stay in Abilene and play #12/14 Hardin-Simmons on Monday at 1 p.m.
