ABILENE, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball team nearly pulled off a victory at #12/14 Hardin-Simmons, falling 63-61 at the Mabee Complex in an American Southwest Conference contest Monday afternoon.
The Comets (7-3, 1-2 ASC) shot 50 percent (9-of-18) in the first quarter and led 19-14 after the opening period. UTD took a 30-29 advantage into halftime.
The Cowgirls (9-1, 4-1 ASC) outscored the Comets 15-10 in the third period, taking a 44-40 lead. HSU led by 11 with 6:09 left to play. UTD answered with a 16-8 run to cut the deficit to 59-56 with 13 seconds left. Parris Parmer hit a pair of free throws with 12 seconds left for the home team and
Trystan Clark made a fastbreak layup with five seconds left with five seconds remaining to make the game 61-58. Parmer hit two more free throws to give the Cowgirls a five-point lead.
Addy Self hit a three-pointer from halfcourt at the buzzer for the two-point margin.
UTD shot 35.7 percent (25-of-70) overall, went 8-of-24 from outside and 3-for-5 at the line. They also recorded 47 rebounds, 14 assists, 23 turnovers, seven blocks and 11 steals.
HSU shot 32.2 percent (19-for-59) from the field, 6-for-30 from three-point range and 19-of-23 at the free throw line with 42 rebounds, eight assists, 19 turnovers, six blocks and eight steals.

- The Comets recorded season-bests with eight three-pointers, 47 rebounds and seven blocks.
- Self had her second consecutive double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds and blocked a pair of shots.

Cierra Trigg scored 15 points, going 5-for-6 from three-point territory.
