KERRVILLE, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball team ended 2023 with a 58-48 victory at Schreiner at Stephens Family Arena Thursday afternoon.
All 14 of the Comets (8-3) played with 13 appearing in the scoring column, but none reached double digits. UTD led the host Mountaineers (3-10) 28-12 at halftime.
The Comets led by as many as 18 in the third quarter, but SU chipped away, cutting its deficit to 52-48 with 1:13 left in the game. UTD ended the game going 6-for-8 at the free throw line to capture the 10-point win.
For the game, the Comets shot 35.6 percent (21-of-59) overall, 5-for-16 from outside and 11-of-22 at the line. They also posted 36 rebounds, 14 assists, 15 turnovers, one blocked shot and 15 steals.
The Mountaineers shot 29.3 percent (12-of-41) overall, 6-for-24 from three-point range and 18-of-28 at the free throw line with 37 boards, nine assists, 27 turnovers, two blocks and eight steals.
