Big Second Half Leads to 30-Point Victory for UTD

RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball team outscored LeTourneau 41-17 in the second half, en route to a 67-37 American Southwest win at the UTD Activity Center Thursday night.

The visiting YellowJackets (8-16, 4-13 ASC) built up an 18-13 lead in the second quarter before the Comets (15-9, 11-6 ASC) end the period in a 13-2 run. UTD carried that momentum into the second half, where they limited LeTourneau to 22.7 shooting (5-22).

For the game, The Comets shot 37.3 percent (25-for-67) from the floor, 7-for-22 from three-point range and 10-for-15 at the free throw line. They also recorded 44 rebounds, 18 assists, 15 turnovers and had season-bests of 17 steals and 10 blocked shots.

The YellowJackets shot 30.4 percent (14-for-46) overall, 2-for-12 from outside and 7-for-13 at the line with 35 rebounds, seven assists, seven blocks, six steals and 27 turnovers.

With one game remaining in the regular season, UTD would need to defeat East Texas Baptist, currently tied for second, to secure the fourth seed and a home quarterfinal in next week's ASC Championship Tournament. A loss and a Sul Ross State win against Howard Payne on Saturday would lead to a tie with the Lobos, who hold the tiebreaker at the Comets.
