Ritvik Ganesan and junior
Rebecca Jackson were selected as the American Southwest Conference East Division Men's Tennis and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively, the league annoucned Tuesday.
Ganesan, from Plano, Texas, went 2-1 in singles and 3-0 in doubles over the weekend. In singles, he picked up a 6-3, 6-2 #4 win against McMurry and defeated Howard Payne's #1 6-1, 6-1 on the road. Ganesan's only loss was at #4 against Division II foe St. Mary's (Texas) in three sets, 7-6 (7-3), 0-6, 3-6. He also won all his doubles matches at #2, including a 6-3 victory over the Rattlers.Â
This is Ganesan's second Player of the Week award in a row in fourth of his career.
Jackson, from Austin, went 3-0 at #3 singles and 2-1 at #1 doubles for the Comets. She earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Howard Payne and 6-1, 6-1 against McMurry, then defeated NCAA Division II's St. Mary's (Texas)' Kyndall Quiroz 3-6, 6-4, 10-8. Teaming with
Saumya Vedula in doubles, Jackson won 8-2 vs. the Lady Jackets and 8-0 against the War Hawks' top teams. The only loss came against the #7 team in Division II from St. Mary's, 2-6.
This is Jackson's fourth weekly award of her career.
Both Comet squads will host ASC East Division foe Ozarks at 2 p.m. Friday.
