UTD Falls to ETBU in ASC Opener

RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas volleyball team opened American Southwest Conference play with a four-set loss to East Texas Baptist at the UTD Activity Center Tuesday night.

The visiting Tigers (7-2, 1-0 ASC) won the match 19-25, 26-24, 25-10, 25-23. 

The Comets (0-5, 0-1 ASC) wont he first set while hitting .250 and connecting on 13 kills. The second set was a battle with 11 ties and three lead changes before ETBU pulled it out. ETBU hit .288 with 21 kills in the frame. 

In the third set, the Tigers hit .320 with 10 kills while the Comets only managed six. The fourth set was also hotly contested with 12 ties and six lead changes. With the game tied at 23-23, ETBU finished the match with the final two points.

UTD hit .115 with 44 kills, five aces, five blocks and 63 digs. ETBU had a .239 hitting percentage with 58 kills, seven aces, seven blocks and 70 digs.

UT Dallas Notes
- Sophomore middle blocker Lauren Johnson led the Comets with nine kills and five blocks.
- Freshman Laura See hit .333 with eight kills.
- Senior Erin Rogers also recorded nine kills.
- Freshman outside hitter Bailey Schievelbein added eight kills and 13 digs.
- Libero Mari Hernandez came up with 22 digs, while Rachel Baxter added 12.
- Emma Sevening had 19 assists and Izzy Sundquist had 14 with two aces.

East Texas Baptist Notes 
- Graycee Mosley hit .407 with 27 kills and 12 digs.
- Avery Reid added nine kills, three aces, three blocks and eight digs.
- Libero Lillie Hill led all players with 23 digs.
- Lexi Moody recorded 30 assists and Sydney Temple had 17.
- Rachel Spicer led the Tigers with four blocks.

Up Next
UTD will travel to Thousand Oaks, Calif. to compete at the Cal Lu Fornia Invitational. They will play Friday against #4 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 6 p.m.
