THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - The UT Dallas volleyball team opened the Cal Lu Fornia Invitational with a three -set loss to #4 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at Gilbert Arena Friday.
The Athenas (6-2), who eliminated the Comets (0-6) in the Second Round of last year's NCAA Championship Tournament, took the first set 25-11. Set two was close early, with CMS up 11-10, before closing out the frame on a 14-5 rally for the 25-16 victory.
The Athenas closed the match by hitting .481 in the third game and won 25-13.
Overall, the Comets hit .079 with 26 kills, one aces, three blocks and 29 digs. CMS hit .385 on 44 kills and added five aces, four blocks and 53 digs.
UT Dallas Notes
- Freshman outside hitter
Bailey Schievelbein led the Comets with eight kills and also came up with five digs.
