RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball team returned to the UTD Activity Center to defeat East Texas Baptist 63-55 Thursday night.
After 51 days and eight consecutive road games, the Comets (10-4, 3-3 American Southwest Conference) moved into fourth place after surviving against the Tigers (6-9, 3-4 ASC) in a contest that featured 51 total fouls and 64 free throw attempts.
ETBU led 17-13 after the first quarter, but UTD outscored the visitors 12-6 in the second to take a 25-23 advantage at the break. The Comets held on to that lead the entire second half, including a 13-point differential during the third quarter. The Tigers came within two points at 57-55 with 54 seconds left, but the hosts went 5-for-6 at the free throw line in the final minute to come away with the eight-point victory.
UT Dallas shot 33.9 percent (19-for-56) from the floor, 4-for-16 from three-pointer range and 21-of-32 at the charity stripe. They also recorded 46 rebounds, 11 assists, 15 turnovers, five blocked shots and eight steals.
ETBU shot 28.3 percent (15-for-53) overall, 6-for-19 from outside and 19-of-31 at the line with 38 boards, 11 assists, 13 turnovers, two blocks and five steals.
UT Dallas Notes
- With the win, the Comets move into fourth place in the ASC standings with 10 games remaining.
- UTD has won four straight against East Texas Baptist dating back to last season and lead the all-time series 29-25.
- Sophomore guard Amanda Crowinshiled posted a season-high 18 points off the bench, going 7-for-7 at the free throw line.

Alex Bowman scored in double-digits for the third consecutive game, coming up with 15 points to go with a career-high eight rebounds.

Blythe Williams grabbed a season-best 11 rebounds to go with five points, three assists and two steals.

- Kadia Ward led the Tigers with 21 points, shooting 7-of-13, and seven rebounds.
- Tristan Smith scored 12 points with six rebounds.
- Payton Hicks netted nine points and four boards.
- Hannah Matthews scored four points with two steals and five rebounds.
