BELTON, Texas - The UT Dallas volleyball team battled Mary Hardin-Baylor in a three-set 25-19, 26-24, 25-22 loss at the Mayborn Campus Center Friday night.
The first set was tied at 17-17 before the host Cru (20-6) pulled away with an 8-2 run. Both teams recorded their best hitting percentage of the evening in the opening frame. UMHB hit .455 with 17 kills while the Comets (7-8) posted 15 kills and a .297 rate.
The Cru jumped out a 21-14 advantage in the second before the Comets went on a 10-3 rally to knot it up at 24-24. UMHB finished the set off with the final two points.
The final game was even throughout with nine ties and four lead changes. After being tied 21-21, the Cru took the match with four of the final five points.Â
For the match, UTD hit .194 with 44 kills, three aces, four blocks and 55 digs. UMHB hit .288 on 45 kills, four aces, 10 blocks and 50 digs.
UT Dallas Notes
- Freshman right side hitter
Lauren Petty posted the fourth-best hitting percentage in school history at .714. She had 10 kills and no errors on 14 attempts.
- Sophomore middle blocker
Laura See hit .563 with nine kills and zero errors.

Mari Hernandez led players with 17 digs.

Alina Strickler added seven kills and 11 digs.

Mary Hardin-Baylor
- Kendall Harrington was close to a triple-double with 11 kills, 12 assists, eight digs and four blocks.
- Baylee Mobley had 11 kills and 12 digs for a double-double.
- Sifa Olang posted eight total blocks to go with seven kills.
- Caitlyn Ellenburg led all players with 25 assists.
- Caiden Lasela led the Cru with 15 digs.
