RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball team avenged its previous loss to McMurry, winning 70-57 at the UTD Activity Center Thursday night.
With the victory, the Comets (16-4, 8-3 American Southwest Conference) jumped the War Hawks (14-7, 8-4 ASC) for third place in the league standings. UTD has five contests remaining and will face second-place #12/16 Hardin-Simmons Saturday at home.
McMurry scored the first four points of the game, but UTD answered with a 28-4 run to finish out the opening period, shooting 57.9 percent (11-for-19) from the floor and 5-for-7 from three-point range. The Comets led 48-30 at halftime. The War Hawks would come as close as 10 points before the home team finished with the 13-point victory.
For the game, UT Dallas shot 42.6 percent (26-for-61) overall, 8-for-16 from outside and 10-for-19 from the free throw line. They also had 42 rebounds, 20 assists, 19 turnovers, five blocks and eight steals.
McMurry shot 37.5 percent (21-for-57) from the field, 2-for-20 from three-point range and 13-of-18 at the line with 37 boards, 16 assists, 21 turnovers, nine blocks and 13 steals.
UT Dallas Notes
- Senior forward
Alex Bowman led the Comets with 18 points and nine rebounds. She has scored in double-digits in nine consecutive games.
- Junior guard
Cierra Trigg hit five three-pointers, en route to 17 points to go with four rebounds, and a pair of steals.
- Sophomore forward
Addy Self posted nine points with eight rebounds, two blocks and a career-high five assists.

Amanda Crowninshield added seven points off the bench.
- Senior
Blythe Williams had six points, eight boards and six assists.
- Guard
Trystan Clark posted six points, six rebounds and two steals.
McMurry Notes
- Emily Holland scored 19 points with five rebounds and two steals. She also passed the 1,000-point mark for her career.
- Aryana Cleveland recorded a double-double off the bench with 11 points and 11 rebounds. She also dished out four assists.
- Taya Bridges added eight points, five rebounds and six steals.
- Katie Hale blocked seven shots to go with six points, three steals and three assists.
