RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball team lost to #12/16 Hardin-Simmons 77-66 at the UTD Activity Center Saturday, bringing a seven-game winning streak to an end.
The Comets (16-5, 8-4 American Southwest Conference) also slip back to fourth place in the league standings with four regular season contests to go. The third and fourth place teams will host ASC Championship Tournament Quarterfinal games on Tuesday, February 20.
The Cowgirls (19-3, 11-2 ASC), who sit in second place, shot 54.5 percent (12-22) in the first quarter, while the Comets were 1-for-10, to gain a 27-11 lead. HSU led by 25 with 6:23 left in the second period before the home team ended the half with a 15-3 run to make the game 40-27 at the break.
The Comets chipped away at the deficit throughout the third and early fourth quarter, cutting it down to 59-53 with 6:50 to play. The Cowgirls held off the comeback attempt down the stretch to win by 11.
The game was extremely physical with 30 fouls called on HSU and 20 on UTD. The Comets tied a 24-year old school record with 46 free throw attempts.
For the game, UTD shot 34.6 percent (18-for-52) overall, 1-for-8 from three-point range and 63 percent (29-of-46) at the line. They also recorded 30 rebounds, eight assists, 11 turnovers, three blocks and 10 steals.
HSU shot 44.1 percent (26-of-59) overall, 6-for-29 from outside and 19-of-23 at the stripe with 46 rebounds, 20 turnovers, five blocks and five steals.
UT Dallas Notes
- Senior forward
Alex Bowman scored in double-digits for the ninth straight game with a career-high 23. She was 13-for-16 at the free throw line to go with six boards, a block and three steals.
- Sophomore
Addy Self recorded her third double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds, nine of which were on the offensive end.
- Guard
Amanda Crowninshield scored 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

Blythe Williams recorded seven points, four rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a pair of steals.

- Samantha Tatum led the Cowgirls with 19 points to go with five rebounds and four assists.
- Parris Parmer posted a double-double of 11 points and 14 boards.
- Savannah Bennett had 11 points, six rebounds, three blocks and two steals.
- Anna Fanelli added seven points, seven assists and six rebounds.
