RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball team defeated #16/17 Mary Hardin-Baylor 68-60 in American Southwest Conference action at the UTD Activity Center Thursday night.
With the win, the Comets (17-5, 9-4 ASC) avenged last month's loss to the first place Cru (19-3, 11-2 ASC). UTD is now tied with McMurry with three games to go in the regular season. The third and fourth seeds will host ASC Championship Tournament Quarterfinal contests on Tuesday, February 20.
The teams were equally matched early with UMHB leading 14-13 at the end of the opening quarter. The Comets used a 15-7 run late in the second to take a 37-28 advantage into halftime.
The Cru were held to 11.8 percent shooting (2-for-17) and only seven points in the third, allowing the Comets to push their lead to 48-35. UTD maintained at least a seven-point advantage throughout the fourth and came out on top with the eight-point victory.
The Comets shot 40.4 percent (21-for-52) overall, 2-for-9 from three-point range and 24-of-31 at the free throw line. They also had 37 rebounds, 18 assists, 22 turnovers, four blocks and 12 steals.
The Cru were held to 28.3 percent (17-for-60) from the field, 4-for-20 from outside and 22-for-25 at the stripe to go with 38 boards, nine assists, 20 turnovers, five blocks and 11 steals.
UT Dallas Notes
- Junior guard
Cierra Trigg broke the school record for most free throws made without a miss, going 12-for-12 at the line. She finished with 16 points and tied her career-high with three steals.
- Guard
Trystan Clark led UTD with 17 points, going 6-for-7 from the floor.
- Senior
Blythe Williams posted 11 points, six rebounds, three assists, a block and three steals.
- Sophomore forward
Addy Self had eight points, a season-best six assists, a block and a pair of steals. She also pulled down 11 rebounds, breaking double-digits for the fifth time this season.
- Forward
Alex Bowman added nine points.
- Sophomore center
Kyra Samuels tied her season best with seven rebounds.

- Guard Arieona Rosborough went 11-for-13 at the free throw line for 17 points to go with five rebounds and four steals.
- Lauren Baker scored 14 points.
- Ashley Faux added nine points, four rebounds and two steals.
- Alexis Carmosinio had seven points and five rebounds.
- Meagan Johnson grabbed seven rebounds off the bench.

UTD will host Concordia Texas in ASC play on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Comets will honor the seniors after the game.
