RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas volleyball suffered a four-set loss to Howard Payne Friday night at the activity center 31-29, 25-19, 16-25, 25-20.
The first set was nearly even between the Comets (3-3) and the Lady Jackets (6-3) as it saw 12 ties and six lead changes.Â
HPU jumped out to a 15-5 lead in set two. UTD cut into the lead with an 11-6 run before the Lady Jackets took the set.
The Comets hit .237 in the third with 14 kills while the Lady Jackets hit .065 with only seven kills. The home team never trailed in the third.
The fourth set was tied at 12-12 before HPU ended the match on a 13-8 run.
For the match, UTD hit .122 with 59 kills, nine aces, four blocks and 84 digs. HPU hit .190 on 46 kills, three aces, six blocks and 84 digs.
UT Dallas Notes
- Sophomore middle blocker
Laura See recorded 14 kills and two blocks while hitting .423.
- Freshman outside
Emma Mischel led the Comets with 15 kills to go with a pair of aces and eight digs. Mischel also tied for the third most attacks in a four-set match in program history with 60.
- Freshman middle
Bijou Duff hit .350 with nine kills and a pair of blocks.
- Right side
Camryn Kerlick had seven kills and no errors for a .500 attack rate in two sets of action.
- Freshman setter
Kira Braun recorded 30 assists.
- Sophomore
Sydney Sabin posted her second double-double of the year with 22 assists and 11 digs.

Alina Strickler led the team with 29 digs and four aces.

Mari Hernandez came up with 25 digs.

- Makenzie Weddle led the Lady Jackets with 18 kills and had two blocks and 12 digs.
- Tara Bennett added nine kills and 21 digs.
- Emilee Casey led the team with 23 digs.
- Setter Jolee Van Dyke had 21 assists while Addison Roden came up with 19.
- Rylee McAlexander and Ryann Jones each had four blocks.
