RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas volleyball team earned a 25-17, 25-22, 20-25, 25-23 victory against Hardin-Simmons in the annual Gold Match Saturday afternoon at the UTD Activity Center.
The Comets (4-3) made a statement in the first set, hitting .242 on 15 kills while the Cowgirls (8-4) were limited to eight kills and an .031 percentage.
HSU led 12-9 early in the second frame, but UTD picked up momentum with a 9-2 run to take the lead for good. The Cowgirls rebounded to take the third set.
In the fourth, the visitors from Abilene, Texas led 12-11, but the Comets answered with a 7-2 rally and controlled the set the rest of the way.
UTD hit .161 overall with 53 kills, 11 aces, six blocks and 74 digs. HSU hit .148 on 46 kills, six aces, 13 blocks and 72 digs.
The match saw 23 ties and 11 lead changes across the four sets.

- Setter
Sydney Sabin recorded a career-high 25 assists to go with eight digs.
- Freshman outside hitter
Emma Mischel came up with the first double-double of her career on 13 kills and 12 digs.
- Sophomore middle
Laura See had another impressive performance hitting .421 with 11 kills and five total blocks.
