GEORGETOWN, Texas - The UT Dallas volleyball team picked up its first victory of the 2024 season at the Southwestern Fall Invitational, sweeping Whitman 25-21, 25-12, 25-19 at the Robertson Center Friday morning.
The Comets (1-1) hit .323 or better in each set, capped by an impressive .424 rate on 17 kills in the third. Tied at 10-10 in the second, UTD outscored the Blues (1-4) 15-2 the rest of the way for the biggest set win of the match. Whitman was held to a .-136 percentage in that frame.
The Comets hit .384 in the contest, recording 44 kills, six aces, five blocks and 32 digs. The Blues hit .085 with 24 kills, seven aces, one block and 25 digs.
UT Dallas Notes
- For the second consecutive match, freshman outside hitter
Alina Strickler registered double-digit kills, connecting on 11 with eight digs.
- Sophomore middle blocker
Laura See hit .778 with seven kills and no errors and posted three total blocks at the next.

Bijou Duff posted seven kills and a .500 percentage to go with a solo block.
- Sophomore outside hitter
Bailey Schievelbein hit .412 on nine kills.

Sydney Sabin came up with 19 assists, while freshman
Kira Braun added 12.
- Mari Hernadez led UTD with nine digs and two aces.
- UTD is now 2-0 all-time against Whitman, with the other win coming in 2016.

- Arina Gushchina led the Blues with seven kills and a .357 percentage.
- Sophie Broesamle had six kills, three aces and four digs.
- Haylee Pruse recorded 11 assists.
