RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball team lost its home-opener 64-54 to Oklahoma Baptist at the Activity Center Saturday afternoon.
The visiting Bison (3-1) led 20-16 after the first quarter and extended the advantage to 32-24 at halftime. The Comets (0-3) cut the deficit to four points early in the third quarter. OBU held off UTD, leading by as many as 18 before coming up with the 10-point victory.
The Comets shot 34 percent (18-for-53) from the floor, 8-of-21 from three-point range and 10-of-12 at the free throw line. They also recorded 35 rebounds, 15 assists, 17 turnovers, seven blocks and two steals.
The Bison made 37.5 percent (24-of-64) of their shots, were 8-of-27 from outside and 8-of-15 at the line, with 44 boards, 14 assists, 13 turnovers, six blocks and six steals.
UT Dallas Performances
- Junior guard
Umi Otsuka led UTD with 18 points, going 3-for-4 from three-point territory. She also dished out three assists and grabbed four rebounds.
- Guard Anna Yelln scored eight points to go with four rebounds, two assists and a pair of blocked shots.
- Senior forward
Addy Self recorded seven points, two assists, a block and a steal.

Clara Paynter added six points off the bench, hitting a pair of three-pointers.
- Freshman
Danielle Oyakhire had six rebounds and three blocks.
- Senior guard
Raven Busby grabbed six boards.
Oklahoma Baptist Performances
- Jaedyn Getman led OBU with 20 points and three steals while posting 10 rebounds.
- Katelyn Davis netted 18 points with four assists.
- Brenna Butler led all players with 12 rebounds to go with six points and three assists.
