BAYAMON, P.R. - The UT Dallas women's basketball team earned its first win of the season in dominating fashion, defeating Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras 91-37 as part of the Puerto Rico Clasico Tuesday afternoon.
The 54-point margin of victory was the third-largest in program history and the most since 2000. The Comets' (1-3) 19 steals were tied for the third-most in a game as well.
UTD led from the tip-off, jumping out to a 10-0 lead. They led the Gallitos 43-20 at halftime and pushed the advantage to 36 points (66-30) at the end of the third.
All 10 Comets that dressed scored at least three points.
The Comets shot 55.1 percent (38-for-69) from the field, 11-of-26 from three-point range and were 4-for-11 from the free throw line. They also had 42 rebounds, 21 assists, 16 turnovers and 19 steals.
UPRRP were held to 25.6 percent (11-for-43) overall, 3-of-23 from outside and 12-of-22 at the line with 24 boards, six assists, 29 turnovers and six steals.
UT Dallas Performances
- Five players scored in double-digits, led by
Umi Otsuka's 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting.
- Freshman
Danielle Oyakhire came up with her first double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Sheridan Kavanagh added 10 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Clara Paynter hit a pair of three-pointers and scored 11 points off the bench.
- Guard
Anna Yellen also scored 10 points and dished out three assists.
- Senior forward
Addy Self recorded nine points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Kinley Mears had nine points, three steals.

Abby Seitz pulled down a team-best 11 rebounds with seven points and three assists.
- Senior guard
Raven Busby added seven points and four steals.

Emery Espinoza hit a three-pointer and had two assists.

- Naheim Suarez led the Gallitos with 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting.
- Joysel Velazquez scored seven points off the bench.
- Joeysel Valezaquez grabbed five rebounds.
