Comets Drop Conference Opener Against Greyhounds

RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball team started Lone Star Conference play with a 68-47 loss to Eastern New Mexico at the Activity Center Thursday evening.

The visiting Greyhounds (6-3, 3-0 LSC) jumped out to a 10-0 lead and took a 35-22 advantage into halftime. The Comets (3-4, 0-1 LSC) cut the deficit down to eight points early in the fourth quarter.

UTD shot 32.7 percent (17-of-52) from the field, 5-of-19 from three-point range and 8-of-11 at the free throw line. They also recorded 30 rebounds, 10 assists, 21 turnovers, six blocked shots and eight steals.

ENMU shot 37 percent (20-of-54) overall, 10-of-24 from outside and 18-of-23 at the line with 40 rebounds, 15 assists, 18 turnovers, four blocks and 12 steals.

UT Dallas Performances
- Junior forward Addy Self posted her third double-double of the year with 16 points and 10 rebounds. She went 7-for-10 shooting with four steals and a blocked shot.
- Freshman Clara Paynter recorded nine points, six rebounds and three assists off the bench.
- Sherdian Kavanagh added seven points.
- Freshman Danielle Oyakhire blocked five shots - tied for the third most in a game in Comet history. She also registered six points and six rebounds.
- Raven Busby scored five points.

Eastern New Mexico Performances
- Ashala Moseberry led the Greyhounds with 26 points to go with four rebounds, three blocks and four steals. She was 7-for-13 from three-point range.
- Julieta Ceja had 13 points and three assists.
- Aaliyah Smith added 10 points off the bench.
- Nataya Lockett had seven points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Up Next
The Comets will face #10 West Texas A&M at home at 1 p.m. Saturday.
