RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball team fell to Northeastern State 66-60 to close out 2025 at the Activity Center on Wednesday afternoon.
The difference in the game came down to free throws as the visiting RiverHawks (10-2) went 26-of-33 at the line, while the Comets (5-6) were 7-of-10.
The contest was close throughout as the squads exchanged leads 14 times with eight ties. UTD led 28-27 at halftime. NSU led 48-45 headed into the fourth quarter and maintained the advantage for the rest of the game.
The Comets shot 39.7 percent (23-of-58) from the field and were 7-of-21 from three-point range. They also recorded 29 rebounds, 15 assists, 18 turnovers, five blocks and seven steals.
The RiverHawks shot 37.5 percent (18-of-48) overall and 4-for-17 from outside with 35 rebounds, 13 assists, 17 turnovers, five blocks and seven steals.
UT Dallas Performances
- Junior guard
Umi Otsuka led all players with 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting. She also dished out four assists. Otsuka is 17-of-21 from the field in the last two games.
- Senior forward
Addy Self recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds to go with four assists, a block and three steals.
- Freshman
Clara Paynter hit a trio of three-pointers for nine points.

Sheridan Kavanagh added seven points off the bench.
- Freshman forward
Danielle Oyakhire had two blocks, moving her total to 23 on the season.
Northeastern State Performances
- McKenzie Smith led NSU with 18 points.
- Gracy Shieldnight posted a double-double of 10 points and 14 boards with two blocks and a pair of steals.
- Gabrielle Tilley had 13 points off the bench, going 8-of-8 at the free throw line.
- Deyanna Douglas recorded seven points and six rebounds.
