RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball team defeated Texas A&M-Kingsville 62-55 for its third consecutive Lone Star Conference victory at the Activity Center Thursday night.
The Comets (6-6, 3-2 LSC) led 14-13 after the first quarter, with the Javelinas leading 29-27 at halftime. UTD took control of the game in the third period, taking a 43-37 advantage into the final quarter.
The Comets led by as many as 14 points in the fourth on 58.3 percent (7-for-12) shooting from the field. They held off TAMUK's effort, who went 12-of-20 at the free throw line in the final period.
For the game, UTD shot 38.6 percent (22-of-57) overall, 4-for-18 from three-point range and 14-of-21 at the line. They also recorded 41 rebounds, 20 assists, 16 turnovers, seven assists and seven steals.
The Javelinas shot 27.4 percent (17-of-62) from the floor, 2-for-11 from outside and 19-of-28 at the line with 44 rebounds, nine assists, 10 turnovers, six blocks and 10 steals.
UT Dallas Performances
- Junior guard
Umi Otsuka led all players with 21 points - her fourth 20-plus performance of the season. She also dished out five assists and grabbed five boards.
- Freshman forward
Danielle Oyakhire was 6-for-8 from the field for 12 points with five rebounds, a block and a steal.
- Senior forward
Addy Self recorded five points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and three blocked shots. It was her sixth double-digit rebound effort of the season.

Clara Paynter added seven points, five rebounds and a pair of steals.
- Senior
Raven Busby recorded four points and two blocks.
Texas A&M-Kingsville Performances
- Kaylee Howell led the Javelinas with 14 points, nine rebounds and two blocks.
- Jadeyn Perez scored 11 points and had a pair of steals.
- Addisyn Parker scored nine points.
- Kaycee Groves recorded eight points, seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks and three steals.
