DALLAS - UT Dallas outfielder
Trent McCown was selected as the 2025 SABR Metroplex Carroll Beringer Award College Division Player of the Year by the Ernie Banks-Bobby Bragan DFW Chapter of the Society of American Baseball Research.
McCown, of Wylie, Texas, hit .418 (51-for-122) with 52 runs scored, 12 doubles, 13 home runs, 45 runs batted in and 38 walks in 36 games while playing right field and first base. He broke the school record with an .836 slugging percentage and had the second-best on-base percentage at .574. McCown tied the school with eight RBI in a game by going 4-for-5 with a double and a home run against Macalester on March 22. He was named the ASC Hitter of the Week on February 10 and selected to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week on February 19.
McCown led the Comets to 32-6 record - the best-winning percentage in program history (.842). He was also selected as the UT Dallas Male Student-Athlete of the Year for 2024-25.
He is the fourth Comet to earn the award - joining Chase Brown (2012), Brandon George (2015) and A.J. Liu (2020 and 2021).
