RICHARDSON, Texas - UT Dallas senior pitcher Dylan Collins and junior catcher Nico Fernandez were named to the 2025 Academic All-District® Baseball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must carry a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and compete in 90 percent of games, start 67 percent or pitch 35 innings.
Collins, from Fairview, Texas, earns Academic All-District honors for the second time after being honored as the ASC Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor recipient and a Chi Alpha Sigma inductee in 2024-25. He led the Comets in strikeouts with 43 over nine starts in 2025, going 5-1 with one complete game and two combined shutouts. Collins had a 4.02 ERA over 56 innings. He graduated with a degree in Healthcare Studies.
Fernandez, from Cypress, Texas, also picks up his second Academic All-District award and was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma earlier this year. He hit .316 with 36 hits, 23 runs, nine doubles, one triple, two home runs and 34 runs batted in for the 32-6 Comets. Fernandez is majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
