RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball lost to Texas A&M International 61-53 in a Lone Star Conference defensive battle at the Activity Center Saturday afternoon.
The Comets (6-7, 3-3 LSC) tied the school record with 13 blocked shots, set in December against Paul Quinn. Senior forward
Addy Self also had six blocks, tying the individual mark by Ashley George in 2011 and Micaela Gonzalez in 2016.
The game was virtually even in the first half, with the Comets leading 12-11 at the end of the first quarter and the Dustdevils (7-6, 4-3 LSC) taking a 29-28 advantage into halftime.
TAMIU pulled away in the second half, going 7-of-10 at the free throw line while UTD was limited to 2-for-3 at the charity stripe. The Dustdevils, using a full-court press, outscored the Comets 25-13 in the third quarter.
For the game, UTD shot 35.7 percent (20-of-56) from the field, 3-of-21 from three-point range and 10-of-13 at the line. They also had 38 rebounds, 15 assists, a season-high 26 turnovers, 13 blocks and 11 steals.
TAMIU shot 30.6 percent (19-of-62) overall, 1-of-11 from outside and 22-of-30 at the line with 43 rebounds, nine assists, 20 turnovers, three blocks and 13 steals.

- Along with the six blocks, Self tied her season-high with 17 points to go with six rebounds, four assists and a steal.

- Jayden Smallwood led the Dustdevils with 15 points and three steals off the bench.
- Racheal Emmanuel had 10 points, six rebounds, a block and three steals.
- Angelique Morgan recorded nine points and eight rebounds.
- Bridgette Tello also had eight points, eight boards and three assists.
