UTD Drops Game at Angelo State

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball team lost 63-49 to Angelo State in Lone Star Conference action at the Junell Center Thursday evening.

The host Rambelles (6-9, 4-5 LSC) got off to a hot start, leading 23-11 after the first quarter. Umi Otsuka scored all 11 points in the period for the Comets (6-8, 3-4 LSC). 

UTD clawed back to make the game 34-29 at halftime and 45-43 at the end of the third. ASU pulled away in the final quarter, outscoring the visitors 18-6.

For the game, the Comets shot 32.8 percent (20-of-61) overall, 5-of-24 from three-point range and 4-for-9 at the free throw line. They also had 38 rebounds, six assists, 16 turnovers, five blocks and nine steals.

The Rambelles shot 36.1 percent (22-of-61) from the field, 8-of-22 from outside and 11-of-19 from the line with 48 rebounds, 12 assists, 15 turnovers, five blocks and nine steals.

UT Dallas Performances
- Otsuka finished with 23 points, her fifth 20-plus point performance of the year.
- Freshman forward Danielle Oyakhire recorded nine points and six boards.
- Senior Addy Self had three points, seven rebounds, two assists and four blocks. She has blocked 13 shots over the last three contests.
- Clara Paytner posted five points and three steals.
- Guard Anna Yellen came up with five rebounds.

Angelo State Performances
- Taylor Grona led ASU with 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
- Majik Esquivel recorded 14 points, five boards and three steals.
- Keniah Williams added 11 points and two blocks off the bench.
- Landry Morrow had 10 points, eight rebounds and three steals.
