SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball team suffered a 64-60 Lone Star Conference loss to St. Mary's at Bill Greehey Arena Saturday afternoon.
The Comets (9-9, 6-5 LSC) led 12-9 after the first period, but the Rattlers (11-6, 6-5 LSC) came back to take a 24-18 advantage at halftime. The home team took control in the third quarter by shooting 70 percent (7-for-10), leading by as many as 14 in the period.
UTD outscored StMU 27-22 in the fourth, going 4-for-6 from three-point range. A three-pointer by junior guard
Umi Otsuka cut the deficit down to 62-60 with 27 seconds left. Quezia Bertoni made a pair of free throws four seconds later to secure the four-point win for the Rattlers.
The Comets shot 30.4 percent (21-of-69) from the field, 4-of-24 from outside and 14-of-17 at the line. They also recorded 35 rebounds, seven assists, a season-low eight turnovers, one blocked shot and six steals.
St. Mary's shot 38.2 percent (21-of-55) overall, 5-of-20 from three-point territory and 17-of-25 at the free throw line with 52 rebounds, 10 assists, 22 turnovers, five blocks and a steal.
UT Dallas Performances
- Otsuka finished with 22 points, her sixth 20-plus point output of the season. She also had five rebounds and three assists.
- Freshman
Danielle Oyakhire recorded 15 points and eight rebounds.
- Senior forward
Addy Self had 14 points, six boards and a blocked shot.

Anna Yellen chipped in seven points and four rebounds off the bench.
St. Mary's Performances
- Allie Garcia led the Rattlers with 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting.
- Raynne Malik had a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds and blocked five shots.
- Lena Newby grabbed 10 rebounds off the bench.
- Bertoni finished with 11 points.
