#20 Lady Chaps Defeat Comets

RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas women's basketball team lost 68-44 to #20 Lubbock Christian in Lone Star Conference play at the UTD Activity Center Thursday night.

The Lady Chaps (18-4, 10-3 LSC) opened the game with an 11-0 lead. The Comets (9-10, 6-6 LSC) managed to cut the deficit to 16-10 at the end of the first quarter.

LCU shot 64 percent (9-14) in the second period to gain a 35-17 advantage at halftime. They went on to lead by as many as 28 in the second half.

UTD was limited to a season-low 26.2 percent (16-of-61) shooting percentage. They also were 5-of-18 from outside and 7-of-9 at the free throw line with 39 rebounds, nine assists, 13 turnovers, five blocks and seven steals.

The Lady Chaps shot 50 percent (28-of-56) overall, 8-of-20 from three-point range and 4-for-8 at the line with 38 rebounds, 19 assists, 12 turnovers, five blocks and three steals.

UT Dallas Performances
- Junior guard Umi Otsuka led the Comets with 17 points, going 3-for-5 from three-point territory. She also recorded three assists, a block and a steal.
- Anna Yellen posted seven points, three rebounds and two blocks off the bench.
- Senior forward Addy Self posted five points, eight rebounds and two assists.
- Sheridan Kavanagh had six points and six rebounds.

Lubbock Christian Performances
- Meg Meekins led LCU with 14 points, going 3-for-5 from outside.
- Kennedy Chappell had a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds.
- Martie McCoy dished out five assists.

Up Next
The Comets will take on Midwestern State at home at 1 p.m. Saturday.
