RICHARDSON, TX (03.05.12) - The UT Dallas women's tennis team improved to 4-0 on the young season after three victories over the weekend. The Comets downed both Schreiner and Howard Payne at home Saturday before taking down McMurry Sunday on the road.
The Comets easily swept an under-manned Schreiner squad, earning a 9-0 home win over the Mountaineers.

Stephanie Lu each picked up wins over the four Schreiner players in singles before Houston and
Jean-Jean Gwo and
Mindy Tiu and
Megan Tan teamed up for doubles wins.
UTD 8, HPU 1 (BOX SCORE)
After dropping No. 1 doubles to start the duel, the Comets bounced back to win the next eight matches en route to an 8-1 home win over the Jackets. UTD duo of Houston and Gwo dropped No. 1 doubles, 9-8 (7-3), to HPU's Gabi Crunelle/Joan Burks, but their teammates picked them up with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. UTD then swept the singles to secure the second win of the day.
Mindy Tiu/Tan eanredn an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles of HPU's Jenna Johnson/Larissa Lyndskey, and
Cindy Tiu and
Alisha Lorren earned an 8-0 win over Whitney Turnacliff/Samantha Guerror at No. 3. In singles action, Houston sparked the singles sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Crunelle while
Mindy Tiu earned a dominant 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles over Johnson.
UTD 6, McM 3 (BOX SCORE)
The Comets held off their closest match to date, earning a 6-3 road win over McMurry to close the weekend. UTD took a 2-1 advantage after doubles and iced the match with wins at No. 1 and No. singles by Houston and
Mindy Tiu.
Houston/Gwo earned a tight 9-7 win over McMurry's Dana LeMieux/Brandy Curry and
Mindy Tiu and Tan downed WarHawks' Sona Del Hierro/L. Krusmark at No. 2 doubles, 8-1.
Cindy Tiu and Lorren dropped No. 3 doubles, 8-5, to McM's Hilary Stone/Chelsea Miller.
Houston picked up her second win of the match at No. 1 singles, downing LeMieux, 6-3, 6-2. After a loss by Gwo at No. 2 singles,
Mindy Tiu solidified the win wiht a 6-2, 6-1 win over McMurry's Miller. Tan and
Cindy Tiu each picked singles wins after the match was decided.
The Comets (now 4-0, 1-0 ASC East) return to action this weekend with a pair of matches in Louisiana. UTD will face Centenary Friday at 3 p.m. and Louisiana College Saturday at noon, both on the road.
