Comets Extend Streak To 18 Matches, Sweep Millsaps & Belhaven

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 JACKSON, MS (11.02.13) - The UT Dallas volleyball team wrapped up the regular season Saturday with sweeps of Millsaps and Belhaven in non-conference play.

The Comets (now 29-6) are now set to host the American Southwest Conference Postseason Tournament, Nov. 7-9, after winning the league's regular-season crown with a 17-1 mark. UTD finished the regular season with an 18-match winning streak, improving to 12-5 in non-conference play this season.

UTD 3, Millsaps 0 (25-7, 25-20, 25-10)
The Comets kicked off their final day of the regular season with a short, three-set sweep of Millsaps, 25-7, 25-20, 25-10.

Freshman Blake Johnson led UTD with 13 kills and added a pair of blocks as the Comets hit .296 as a team for the match. Taylour Toso finished with nine kills and Meredith Crawford and Holyn Handley each had eight kills. Sophomore setter Kayla Jordan controlled the offense with 42 assists, 14.0 per set, while freshman libero Mary Speights had a game-high 20 digs.

UTD 3, Belhaven 0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-14)
UTD made its trip to Jackson, Miss., short and sweet after pouncing Belhaven in straight sets, 25-15, 25-14, 25-15, Saturday afternoon before returning home.

The Comets hit an impressive .347 as a team with Crawford leading a balanced attack with 10 kills. Toso had nine kills and Johnson added eight kills. Jordan finished with 43 assists, 14.3 per set, while Speights had a team-best 10 digs.
