RICHARDSON, TX (03.28.15) - The UT Dallas women's tennis team kicked off American Southwest Conference West Division play this weekend with a pair of home vcitories. UTD opened the weekend with a 7-2 win over Howard Payne Friday before a 6-3 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor Saturday.

The Comets (now 3-1, 2-0 ASC) will host St. Catherine in a non-conference match at 3 p.m. Monday. UTD will then visit Texas-Tyler Friday before returning to ASC West play April 10 at Hardin-Simmons.

UTD 7, HPU 2
After take 2-of-3 doubles matches, the Comets (now 2-1, 1-0 ASC West) picked up five singles wins to secure the victory. Casey Johnson and Auvi Tran each picked straight-set singles wins at No.1 and No. 2, respectively, and then teamed up for an 8-1 win over HPU's Chesney Goza/Alex Marlin at No. 1 doubles.

Katie Purdum (No. 3), Kelly Reed (No. 5) and Thuy Ho (No. 6) also earned singles victories while Ashwini Kulkarni and Michaela Galasy collected an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles.

UTD 6, UMHB 3
The Comets took 2-of-3 doubles matches, picking up wins at No. 1 and No. 2, before grabbing four singles wins for a 6-3 victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Johnson and Tran picked up a second 8-1 doubles win wihle Kulkarni and Diana Roy teamed up for an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles over the Cru.

Johnson and Tran each cruised to 6-0, 6-0, wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, repsectively, while Roy (No. 3) and Kulkarni (No. 4) also picked up straight-set wins for the Comets.
