Box Score GREENSBORO, NC (11.18.16) - The UT Dallas men's basketball team was handed its second straight loss to open the season Friday night, falling at Guilford, 76-62, to open a weekend tournament hosted by the Quakers.
The Comets (0-2) will next play at 3 p.m. Saturday against William Peace in the consolation game of the Guilford College Invitational. Host Guilford will play in the championship game at 5 p.m. against Emory, which defeated William Peace, 100-80, earlier Friday.
UTD shot 40.7 percent from the field in Friday's loss, but hit just 7-of-28 three-pointers (25%), as the Quakers pulled away in the second half. Guilford held a slim two-point lead, 35-33, at the break only to outscore the Comets, 41-29, over the final 20 minutes.
Senior
Kyle Coulter led the Comets with 13 points, hitting 5-of-11 shots, including three three-pointers, while
Jon Hatcher was the only other UTD player in double digits with 10 points. Hatcher grabbed a team-best seven rebounds while
Caleb Banks dished out a game-best seven assists.
