Box Score LONGVIEW, TX (01.14.17) - The UT Dallas men's basketball team led early but fell late as the Comets dropped a 94-83 decision at East Division-leading LeTourneau Saturday afternoon in American Southwest Conference play.
The Comets (3-12, 2-6 ASC) will look to snap a three-game losing skid Monday afternoon when they open a four-game home stand against Mary Hardin-Baylor. Game time is 5 p.m. at the UTD Activity Center
UTD led by as many as 12 points late in the opening period and held a 43-36 lead at the break only to watch the host YellowJackets quickly erase the lead to start the second half and pull away for the victory. LETU opened the second frame on a 10-2 run to take a 46-45 lead with 15:58 left to play and never slowed down. The YellowJackets shot 54.1 percent (20-of-37) in the second half, hitting nine three-pointers, as they outscored UTD, 58-40, over the final 20 minutes.
Caleb Banks scored a game-high 21 points to lead four Comets in double figures, joined by
Kyle Coulter (15),
Dimitrius Underwood (13) and
Curtis Allen (11).
Reagan Keogh finished with seven points and a game-best 11 rebounds. UTD ended the game shooting 41.4 percent (29-of-70) from the field, connecting on 10-of-23 three-pointers (43.5%), and were 15-of-22 (68.2%) from the free-throw line.
