BROWNWOOD, TX (03.08.18) - The UT Dallas women's tennis team improved to 4-0 on the young season as the Comets made quick work of Howard Payne in a 9-0 victory in American Southwest Conference West Division play.
UTD is now 2-0 in divisional play after Thursday's win that saw three quick doubles figures and six straight-set singles wins. The Comets will travel to California during Spring Break next for multiple matches.
In doubles action, top-flighted
Kathy Joseph and
Sumvruta Iyengar had the largest margin of victory, downing HPU's Erin Blanchard/Erin McCleer, 8-1. No. 2 squad
Sophie Farmer and
Elizabeth Labra gained an 8-3 win while
Svaksha Iyengar and
Vivian Sepulveda collected an 8-6 win at No. 3.
Sumvruta Iyengar downed HPU's Chesney Goza, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 single, while Joseph quickly dispatched McCleer, 6-1, 6-1. Farmer (No. 3, 6-0, 6-1),
Svaksha Iyengar (No. 4, 6-2, 6-1), Labra (No. 5, 6-1, 6-0) and Sepulveda (No. 6, 6-2, 6-1) also picked up straight set wins.
