Box Score ALPINE, TX (02.28.20) - The UT Dallas men's basketball team made an early exit from the American Southwest Conference championship Friday night after a 59-45 loss to East Texas Baptist in the semifinal round.
The Comets (now 21-6) had a nine-game winning streak heading into Friday's semifinal round and will now need to wait until Monday to learn their fate for the NCAA Division III National Championship, starting next weekend. The NCAA D-III selection show is slated for 11:30 a.m. Monday morning. Ranked regionally the entire season, the Comets are currenlty ranked No. 3 in the NCAA D-III South Region.
UTD shot a season-low 33.3 percent from the field, connecting on just 17-of-51 shots as a team. The Comets made just 6-of-24 three-pointers on the night made just seven trips to the free-throw line, going 5-for-7. The Comets' 45 points was also a season low.
Michael Forster led the Comets with 13 points, hitting three treys, and added nine rebounds and a pair of steals.
Jalen Weber also finished in double digits, adding 11 points along with 10 rebounds and five assist, both team highs.
