Nathan Qi and sophomore
Elyssa Ducret were named the American Southwest Conference East Division Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively, on Tuesday.
Qi, from Austin, Texas, ground out a pair of wins for the Comets in its 8-1 East Division victory against Ozarks on Friday. He teamed with Rivik Ganesan for an 8-7 (8-6) win over Hikaru Yamaya and Kento Iwahara at number one doubles. Qi then went on to win in three sets at number three singles over Joshua Wilde 5-7, 6-1, 6-1. This is the fourth Player of the Week of the season for the UTD men.
Ducret, of Plano, Texas, did not give up a point in her two match-ups in the Comets' 9-0 win against Ozarks on Friday. She teamed with
Megan Zeng to move to 8-2 on the season at number two doubles, defeating Lea Terrell and Sedalia Shumaker 8-0. Ducret then went on to sweep Emily Saniseng 6-0, 6-0 at number four singles. This is Ducret's second career Player of the Week award and third for the UTD women this season.
The Comet women will face Cal Lutheran at home on Monday, March 20 and the men will be back in action on March 25 against Concordia Texas in Waco.
