FORT WORTH, Texas - The UT Dallas men's cross country team finished seventh and the women's squad was 12th at the program's first Lone Star Conference Championship meet at AP Ranch Saturday.
Sophomore
Alex Bozhilov was 12th in the men's 8K race, earning All-Conference honors. For the women, sophomore
Alexia Callahan was named the LSC Newcomer of the Year.
The Comets scored 195 points in the 13-team field, while the women had 305 points in a 15-team 6K.
Bozhilov completed the muddy course in 25:24.16, the fifth-fastest time in program history. He finished his first season at UTD with three of the five top 8K times, including the school record.Â
Graduate student
Ethan Turner also had a top-20 finish, coming in at 18th in 25:40.89.
Frank Douglas was 49th in 26:53.43.
Anthony Stuart (61st/27:13.66) and
Alan Sutherland (62nd/27:21.12) rounded out the scoring for the Comets.
Sophomore
Bharvi Varu was the top finisher for the UTD women, placing 37th. She ran a personal-best 23:25.18 and had the 12th-fastest time in school history.Â
Callahan was 40th in 23:36.86 and freshman
Brianne Vasquez was 74th in 25:25.19.
Ellie Suo-Anttila (80th/25:43.16) and
Abby Valdez (102nd/27:11.83) also ran for the Comets.
